Corporate History

It was in 1879, that Oliver Colborne first established his hardware store on Chicago’s near north side. The Division Street store soon gained a reputation for excellent service among local bakers. Over the next three decades, the company grew into a machine shop and by 1907, had produced the first high speed dough roller for the baking industry. Two years later, the first rotary pie machine was built, and in 1932, the first high-speed straight line pie system was installed.

From our humble beginnings over a century ago, Colborne has evolved into a world leader in designing and manufacturing standard and custom equipment for the baking and food processing industries. Our dedication to cutting edge engineering, forward thinking design and state-of-the-art technology has produced a complete line of equipment for a full range of production needs.

We continue to demonstrate our commitment to excellence by manufacturing our equipment to the highest standards of quality so that you are ensured optimal running efficiency and a maximum return on your investment.
